Routes
Use Routes to describe reusable lanes or service areas.
Routes help users classify transportation work, filter documents, and report activity by geography or service pattern.
Before you start
Make sure that:
- map locations exist for common origin and destination points,
- your company agrees on route naming,
- users know whether route is required for pricing, planning, or reporting.
How to create a route
- Search for Routes.
- Choose New.
- Enter a route code and description.
- Fill origin and destination context when used.
- Add notes or service information if your process uses them.
- Save the route.
Fields that matter most
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Code | Identifies the route in documents and reports. |
| Description | Helps users choose the right lane. |
| Origin / Destination | Explains the geography covered by the route. |
| Mode of Transport | Helps separate road, air, sea, or multimodal work when used. |
| Blocked | Prevents new use without breaking history. |
Good to know
- Keep route codes stable and readable.
- Do not create route records for one-time moves unless reporting requires it.
- Routes can support pricing, planning, and dashboards when used consistently.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| Route is not available | Check whether it is blocked or filtered. |
| Users choose the wrong route | Improve descriptions and route naming. |
| Pricing or reporting is inconsistent | Confirm users select routes consistently on Forwarding Orders. |
